Testimony

When I was 13 years old, my mother was in a constant state of depression and my brother Rodolfo was serious ill. My mother had tried all types of doctors, medicines, healers and witches, but the situation had continued to get worse. A lady that washed cloths told her she knew of someone who prayed for the sick and my mother said to go ahead and bring him thinking he was just another type of witch. The pastor came, prayed, God healed my brother and my whole family received Jesus as Lord.

Two years later my father, because of a problem in the family, backslid and as a result prohibited my mother, my younger brother and me from going to any evangelical church. This adversity actually helped us to strengthen our relationship with the Lord. I learned to play the guitar and write praise and worship songs to the Lord. I was like a “little David”, worshipping God on my own. My father’s character grew worse and I was becoming bitter, but the Lord sent a young lady to share with me about the Love of God and I decided to forgive my father.

In 1979 I entered the Technological Institute of Saltillo. Since my parents had the old custom that there was no reason for a girl to get a higher education because all she will do is get married and care for the house, this was the only school they would allow me to attend. These were four happy years even though my father would not allow me to attend a church as I dedicated myself to preaching the gospel in the university.

My brother Rogelio and I started by projecting a film in the school auditorium that normally holds 250 students. As about 350 students were crowding into the space, the brother that came from Monterey with the projector shook with nervousness as he tied the broken rubber-band he was using as a belt for the take-up reel. At the end of the movie numerous students were interested in the gospel and thus began 4 years of university evangelism.

The situation with my father grew more difficult and I constantly said to God, “Lord, if you do not want me to serve you, take this insatiable desire to serve You out of my heart.” The Lord would answer that He was not going to take it away.

The Lord brought me in contact with Carl and Helen Luepnitz who were a great blessing in my life and ministry. The Lord used them to encourage and teach me in my walk with the Lord. The time I spent with them helped to keep up my faith even in the situation in which I was living. I learned what it was to walk in faith, and God taught me how to pray specifically for the needs of others and myself. The things I prayed for then are now a reality in my life.

Carl and I married in 1988 and we have 3 children. I am presently directing a discipleship program, recorded my second album, giving seminars and teaching worship with tambourines. The Lord has put us in a place where we can affect the lives of thousands with the gospel and it is my desire to follow His will in all things.

Note: My father came back to the Lord before his death, which was a great answer to prayer.
