Childhood and Youth: I was born and raised on a farm two miles from the town of Moran in
the upper peninsula of Michigan. God’s presence was manifested to me in many ways over my childhood and youth, and I
cannot remember not believing in God or Jesus. My older sisters read me children’s Bible stories from age one through
five which I believed and which formed a basis for my later life. I also had a praying grandmother and all of us grandchildren
born while she lived are serving the Lord. When I was four years of age a voice spoke to my older sister Esther in the night
and told her to rise and run into the woods. She was asleep in a log cabin dormitory in a logging camp where she was helping
as an assistant cook. She ran barefoot into the woods in her nightgown, where there was three feet of snow and she hid behind
a tree. A crazy man entered the cabin and shot and killed everyone in it and then himself. This incident of God’s operation
had a big impact on me. Over my years as a youth working on a farm, my life was also miraculously saved on several occasions.
At the age of thirteen I enrolled in Lutheran catechism which was presented after classes in the local grade school. During
these classes the calling of God on my life became very strong and I knew I would work for Him.
High School
and College: I graduated from LaSalle High School in Saint Ignace, Michigan as valedictorian and started working
in a local gas station to save money for college. My first two years of college were in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan at Michigan
College of Mining and Technology (presently called Lake Superior State College). With the Lord’s help I was able to
work evenings and weekends along with college courses and finish their two year curriculum in good standing. It was during
this time that I met Helen Brown who became my wife and the mother of our five sons.
My next college was Michigan
State University where I continued to work in the evenings and weekends, attended ROTC, graduated with a bachelors degree
and received a reserve Second Lieutenant commission.
Several years later I also attended the University of Alabama
where I graduated with an MBA. I was also given membership in a student honor society.
Army: Shortly
after entry on Army active duty, I applied for and received a regular army commission under which I served for twenty-six
years before the Lord told me to retire (as a full colonel). My army experiences included assignments in France, Germany,
Iran, Vietnam, Republic of China and several locations in the U.S. The Lord was my ever present guide, strength and protection
during my army years and in 1974 He placed me in a Katherine Kuhlman service where I was healed of a spinal problem which
caused partial paralysis of my left leg (injured during paratrooper assignments and an accident in China). After the Katherine
Kuhlman service, the presence of the Lord was very strong over me for several years. I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
shortly thereafter and at the Holy Spirit’s direction, my wife and I started to pray for the sick. Since then we have
had a part in thousands of people being healed.
A year after the Katherine Kuhlman service, and after testifying
of the Lord to a family for four hours, Jesus visited me in my home in Copperas Cove, Texas and told me I did what I was supposed
to do. In 1978 the Lord told me to move to Temple, Texas. As we drove to Temple we passed a church which the Lord let us know
we were to attend. After entering Temple we made two turns and stopped in front of a house for sale. The Lord said “This
is your house” and let us know what to pay for it. He also sold the house in Copperas Cove the day He said He would
and at the price He said.
Mexico: A year after our move to Temple the Lord informed my son Glen
and I, in visions, that I was to get out of the Army in “March” and to “stand on my faith”. Three
months later, while at Christ For The Nations Institute, I was told to go to Mexico for a 13 day trip with a group from Christ
for the Nations Institute. Each night for three weeks I had dreams of what was to happen in Mexico and experienced the dreams
come to fruition. On the return trip to the U.S. I was told to be in Guadalajara in January for language school, a confirmation
of what Wayne Myers also told me in Mexico City. In compliance, Helen and I crossed again into Mexico on January 1, 1980 and
we have been there most of the time since.
In Guadalajara we rented an apartment and enrolled
in Spanish language school. On January 14th two gunmen entered the apartment, Helen screamed “Carl”, and as I
walked out of the farthest door of the straight corridor leading to the gunmen and the front door, the Lord said, “I
did not bring you here to get shot, the gun will not fire.” I continued toward the door, pushed the gunmen out and closed
the door on the front man’s gun hand. He pulled his hand and the gun out and I snapped the door shut. Shortly thereafter
the Lord told us to move to a missionary’s house. The missionary’s wife needed to return to the U.S. for three
months as she felt she was going insane. We moved to their house and ministered from there to many other missionaries and
Mexicans. The day the missionaries returned, the Lord had us move to another house.
One day in a bus the Lord
said to pray for the lady seated behind the driver. As Helen and I went to leave we prayed for her problems and her husbands
problems and exited the bus. Two days later there was a knock on our door. It was an elderly lady with her 42 year old alcoholic
daughter. I asked why they had come to me and she said, aren’t you the folks who prayed for the lady on the bus; she
and her husband are completely healed. I said OK Lord and thus begin a ministry of healing as the Lord told me how to do it.
When I looked up from her I saw a line of people from the steps of the house to the gate of the yard. All of them wanted healing
which the Lord provided.
On November 5 in Guadalajara I had a vision of a long-hand note which said “on seven
November your brother was killed.” I failed to see who signed it and I have two brothers. In prayer I was told to get
out of Guadalajara and in my heart I knew where to go. We went where the Lord indicated, rented a bungalow, and asked which
brother it was. The answer was “Al”. my next older brother. We interceded in prayer for two hours before the Holy
Spirit said, “because of your intercessory prayer the circumstances have changed and your brother’s life is spared.”
I asked when we were to return to Guadalajara and was told to start at 10:00 a.m. the next day. The next day as traveled north,
the Holy Spirit indicated we were to go to Tepic, Nayarit to the trailer of missionaries Ben and Fay Taylor. We went there,
but they were not there and I knew we were to go into intercessory prayer for them at that very moment. As I bound demonic
forces from them, the Holy Spirit said “do it again” which I did and then I saw a huge demon with dozens of little
demons fleeing. We returned to Guadalajara.
Three months later I saw Ben and Fay. They told us that at the
exact time I was interceding for them they were in front of their support church in Phoenix, Arizona and they had decided
to discontinue all support. Like the cutting of a knife it all changed and they were given more support than before. Five
months after the intercession I attended a F.G.B.M.F.I. meeting in Temple, Texas where my brother Al spoke. He indicated that
because of terrible doctors’ reports he had planned to take his own life. Instead he received a miracle healing, the
baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Lord spoke to him in a audible voice to write down what the Lord then told him. To this
day Al continues in one of the most powerful healing and deliverance ministries I know of.
After one year in Guadalajara
I was directed to Saltillo, Coahuila and told His army there was weak. The Lord told me where to get salvation
tracts, 16mm films, etc. and gave me a vision where we were to live. After obeying the Lord over many steps and time the facility
was located. The Lord sent people to us who needed ministry, pastors who desired help, young people who wanted to start churches
and people with every type of problem. Sometimes up to a million salvation tracts were distributed in two and a half months,
thousands of Bibles were distributed and eight to fourteen services were conducted daily in a multitude of locations to include
villages, streets, prisons, churches, missions, colleges, high schools. hospitals, juvenile schools, homes, mountain sites,
auditoriums, etc. Many times up to 24 applications to C.F.N.I. (Wayne Myers) for church roofs were in process. Our hands were
multiplied by groups and pastors from the U.S. whom the Lord would send to us.
Around 1991 the Lord directed me
to start a new work in the State of Oaxaca in south Mexico and the Saltillo base was turned over to our Carl
Alan and his wife Marina. Multiple operations continue on and out of both sites; and the ministry is changing rapidly to meet
the current needs in both areas of Mexico.
Note: Since 2001 carl and Helen have been ministering in
China and the U.S.
